Focus on Execution in Performance Management

An organisation needs to have strategic clarity to achieve its purpose and meet stakeholder needs.

The big picture needs to be translated into business plan objectives that provide a foundation for the activities of the organisation and bring alignment of effort.

Each objective is a problem that needs to be solved. The owner of the objective is responsible for developing and executing the solution.

Some problems are big and need to be broken down into bite size pieces which can be given to other individuals to deliver. These become an objective for that individual.

The objective owner works out what needs to be done to solve the problem by identifying the activities needed.

Objectives are always agreed between the manager and the individual to create genuine ownership and accountability.

To maximise the probability of success, regular milestones are set for either a numerical target or the progress for activities that have been set. Achievement of these milestones is the required path to deliver the final outcome.

Progress against these milestones is measured frequently with a Pulse check.

Kendo allows a qualitative assessment of the contribution of an objective and the amount of effort required. It also allows for an assessment of the complexity which allows the identification of challenge and risk of the activity.

Kendo provides many options for measuring progress to ensure objectives and executed properly or mitigating steps can be implemented in a time manner if required.

Kendo is focused on outcomes not inputs.
